More About Us
MNR: The Mak Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention and awareness for school-aged children and those affected by suicide in Millbrook, Alabama. It was founded in memory of MaKayla Nicole Reeves, a young student from the community who passed away in March 2023.
While the name “MNR.” stands for Mak’s initials, it also represents the objectives of the organization.
MNR aims to teach individuals how to MANAGE their mental health, NOTICE the signs of suicidal thoughts in others, and REMEMBER those lost to suicide.
The organization's mission is to provide support to students, educators, family, and friends who have lost an individual to suicide. The Mak Project is prepared to bring resources and education to prevent youth suicide. It focuses on raising awareness and ending the stigma around mental health.
MNR: The Mak Project is actively involved in schools and Elmore County through events and initiatives designed to promote mental wellness.
MaKayla Reeves was truly admirable in every sense of the word. In addition to her determination and skill, she was deeply committed to her community. Mak possessed wisdom, compassion, and a heart of pure gold. It is with great respect that we are given the opportunity to honor her through this initiative, which aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of future generations.
